Expecting
our first-born after getting married last 2000 completely changed what
used to be my fast-paced life. I used to have a desktop publishing and
printshop in Laguna, where I was originally based, for 6 years. But
after getting married I have to give up my career and move to Manila
where my hubby is based. A delicate pregnancy tied me up in our house
doing nothing. How I missed designing!
It was
one day on my 7th month that I came across WeddingsAtWork.com
while surfing the net. They were offering free advertisement on their
classified ads section. Out of curiosity I just posted an ad on what
I can offer - bridal CDs and invitations and other desktop publishing
services. I never expected that it would be a start of something wonderful...
One day,
an email from someone named Raquel came into my mailbox inquiring on
my invitations. She wanted a butterfly-themed invitation and orange
color motiff. My first design immediately appealed to her and soon after
that very same design (2 monarch butterflies, each one on opposite side)
was followed by another inquiry, an invitation to a bridal fair and
the rest, I guess, is history. (By the way, she (Raquel) and I have
been good friends even after her wedding.) :)
Today,
I still work on what I call our home-office with 2 active kids. Designing
and experimenting with indigenous materials to create something unique
invitations at the same time patronizing our Filipino-made handmade
papers has been my passion and will still be.
